Trump's Actions: VOA Funding Cuts, Deportations, and Foreign Aid Reviews

Voice of America (VOA) faces potential shutdown after Donald Trump's decision to cut funding to its parent agency, the U.S. Agency for Global Media. Over 1,300 VOA staff members were notified their contracts would end March 31. Some programs have already been replaced with music. The White House stated the cuts would prevent taxpayer responsibility for 'radical propaganda,' citing anti-Trump content posted by VOA journalists. Separately, Tom Homan, criticized a judicial block on the Foreign Enemies Law, used to deport Venezuelan gang members to El Salvador. Homan stated those deported were terrorists. President Nayib Bukele agreed to jail approximately 230 Venezuelan migrants. Additionally, Washington has questioned UN agencies, nonprofits, and charities receiving U.S. funds about possible 'communist' links or support for 'gender ideology.' A list of 36 questions was sent to organizations as part of a review of foreign aid spending.
