Syrian and Lebanese Officials Meet in Damascus
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati met in Damascus. The meeting included several ministers from both countries. This marks the first official visit of a Lebanese Prime Minister to Damascus in years.

Mikati stated the visit aims to open a new page in relations. Discussions covered border control, preventing smuggling, and border demarcation. Facilitating the safe return of refugees was also addressed.
Both parties emphasized the need to enhance security coordination. They stressed the importance of preserving the stability of both nations. The Lebanese delegation also raised the issue of Lebanese detainees in Syria.
The talks resulted in an agreement to form a joint ministerial committee. This committee will address mutual concerns. Further discussions are planned to follow up on these matters.
