EU Conditions Sanctions Relief on Full Russian Withdrawal from Ukraine

The EU has stated that the lifting of sanctions against Russia is contingent upon the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. According to an EU Commission spokesperson, ending Russia's unprovoked aggression and ensuring the unconditional retreat of all Russian forces from Ukrainian territory are essential prerequisites for any alteration or removal of sanctions. This announcement follows discussions with U.S. representatives regarding a potential cessation of hostilities in the Black Sea. The Kremlin indicated that such an agreement would only be considered after the removal of agricultural sanctions against Russia. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has urged Moscow not to impose conditions on a ceasefire.
