ESA's Biomass Satellite Sends First Images of Earth's Forests

Edited by: S Света

The European Space Agency's (ESA) Biomass satellite, launched on April 29, 2024, has sent its first images after completing its commissioning phase.

These images, which are being distributed under the name "Living Planet," demonstrate the satellite's P-band radar capabilities, which will be used to study the world's forests.

One of the images shows a large area in northern Bolivia, depicting the effects of deforestation, flooding, and erosion.

These images will help scientists better understand environmental changes and the impact of human activities on forests.
