The Brazilian judicial system is increasingly integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve credit recovery processes. This is particularly important in the Brazilian legal context, where collection processes can be lengthy and costly.
AI tools are being adopted to automate procedures, optimize repetitive tasks, and assist judges in managing cases. The Tribunal Regional Federal da 2ª Região (TRF2) developed ApoIA, an AI assistant integrated with the Digital Platform of the Brazilian Judiciary (PDPJ-Br).
The Tribunal de Justiça do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (TJRJ), in partnership with the Conselho Nacional de Justiça (CNJ), developed the Victoria platform. It aims to automate tax executions. Other initiatives include the Elis system and a generative AI engine under development by the Tribunal de Justiça do Rio de Janeiro (TJ-RJ).
The use of AI in judicial credit recovery offers benefits such as reduced processing time and decreased case congestion. The Senate approved a bill establishing the legal framework for AI in Brazil. This framework will regulate AI systems, considering their impact on human life and fundamental rights.
The integration of AI in the Brazilian Judiciary represents a significant advancement in credit recovery. However, it is essential that its implementation is ethical and responsible, respecting fundamental rights and ensuring justice in judicial decisions.
