Ankara, June 16, 2025 — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with the new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which he offered Turkey's mediation to resolve the conflict between Iran and Israel and to facilitate a return to nuclear negotiations.

Erdogan stated that diplomacy remains the only viable solution to the nuclear crisis and underscored the importance of international efforts to prevent further escalation of tensions.

The offer came amid escalating tensions following a series of Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities, which triggered retaliatory missile attacks from Tehran.
