Moldova will receive financial support from the European Union to develop public policies and strengthen cooperation between national institutions. The Parliament ratified the Financing Agreement between Moldova, the European Commission, and the Hauts-de-France region for the Interreg Europe 2021-2027 Program on December 27, 2024.
The program focuses on improving public policies and institutional cooperation, with priorities including a smarter, greener, and more connected Europe. It also aims for a more social Europe, closer to its citizens, and with better regional governance. The program's total budget is 395 million euros in non-reimbursable assistance.
The beneficiaries include central and local public authorities, non-governmental organizations, research institutions, and educational institutions. Parliament also adopted amendments to the Financing Agreement for the Interreg VI-a NEXT Romania - Republic of Moldova 2021 - 2027 Program. The non-reimbursable funding for both agreements was increased by 20 million euros each.
