The Global Network Against Food Crises (GNAFC) has released its annual report, revealing a concerning rise in acute food insecurity across the globe. The report highlights that conflict, economic instability, and climate shocks continue to be major drivers of food crises, with the situation in Gaza reaching critical levels.
According to the report, nearly half a million people in Gaza are facing catastrophic hunger conditions, with the entire population experiencing acute food insecurity. The situation has been exacerbated by the closure of border crossings and restricted aid deliveries since early March 2025.
The GNAFC report identifies several countries facing severe food crises, including Sudan, Yemen, and Mali. The report calls for urgent action from the international community to address the root causes of food insecurity and provide humanitarian assistance to those in need. The organization emphasizes the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure aid reaches affected populations and to build long-term resilience.
