Taliban Seeks Normal Ties With India Amidst Diplomatic Exchanges

Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen advocated for normalizing relations between Afghanistan and India. This statement follows recent interactions between Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and Taliban's acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

According to The Hindustan Times, Jaishankar and Muttaqi had a discussion. Shaheen emphasized Afghanistan's desire for normalized relations with India and readiness for investment in the country's development. He highlighted the historical ties between Afghanistan and India, stressing the need to renew and normalize relations.

Shaheen noted the importance of investment from the Taliban's perspective, aiming to boost bilateral trade, currently around $1 billion. He welcomed efforts to rebuild trust between India and Afghanistan through transparent reporting.
