EU-Hosted Syria Donors Conference Pledges €5.8 Billion for Humanitarian Aid and Transition Support

The European Union and its allies pledged €5.8 billion at the Syria Donors Conference held in Brussels on March 18. The funds are intended to support humanitarian actors within Syria and aid the country's transition. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al Shaibani expressed gratitude to the EU and member states for their commitment to Syria's recovery. The EU has allocated €2.5 billion for 2025 and 2026, slightly more than the €2.12 billion assigned for 2024 and 2025. While the total pledged is less than the €7.5 billion from the previous year, it aims to address critical needs and foster progress for the Syrian people.
