UN Agency Warns of Gaza Food Aid Shortages Amidst Ongoing Conflict and Border Restrictions

Cairo, Egypt - The UN's World Food Programme (WFP) announced on date that food aid reserves in Gaza are dwindling, potentially leaving general bakeries and markets unable to operate within weeks. This comes as Israel continues to restrict the entry of food and supplies into the region.

The WFP also cautioned that its own food stocks are running low, jeopardizing its ability to provide aid to those in need. The agency stated that current supplies are only sufficient to cover a fraction of the required assistance.

Meanwhile, Arab League, based in Cairo, condemned the ongoing Israeli blockade of Gaza and restrictions on humanitarian aid. They also criticized the support for Israel from some international parties, which they say allows Israel to continue its actions without consequences.

The Arab League urged the UN Security Council to intervene and enforce a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing that peace is the strategic Arab option based on a two-state solution. They also called on the international community to protect Palestinian civilians and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.
