UNRWA: Israel Impedes Aid to Gaza
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) stated that Israel hinders the use of aid entering Gaza.
According to UNRWA, Israel is restricting the delivery of essential supplies, including food, water, and medicine, to those in need.
UNRWA official, Scott Anderson, highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, exacerbated by Israeli restrictions on aid delivery.
Basem Awotcha, also from UNRWA, told reporters that there aren't enough aid supplies coming in because the process of getting aid in is flawed.
UNRWA emphasized that there is a significant need for food, water, and health care in Gaza, but these needs are not being met due to obstacles.
UNRWA also expressed concern over Israel's disclosure of a plan to expand military operations in Gaza, potentially affecting civilians.
UNRWA insists that aid must be provided based on needs, not other considerations.
UNRWA calls for Israel to facilitate the entry of humanitarian supplies, emphasizing that there are already supplies prepared outside of Gaza ready to be delivered.
UNRWA has faced challenges in providing aid to Gaza since the start of the conflict on October 7, 2023.
UNRWA stresses the need to assess people's locations to ensure aid reaches them effectively.
