Us vice president Vance meets with Ukrainian president Zelensky in Rome

US Vice President J.D. Vance met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Rome on Sunday, May 18, 2025. This marks their first meeting since their disagreement at the White House on February 28. A spokesperson from Washington announced the meeting.

The meeting occurred at the residence of the US Ambassador to Italy, where US Secretary of State Marco Rubio joined them. Earlier in the day, Vance and Zelensky exchanged greetings at St. Peter's Square during the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV.

Following the meeting with Zelensky, Vance is scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen. The discussions will focus on relations between Brussels and Washington.
