Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on May 12 that demands from Western leaders for a ceasefire in Ukraine are unacceptable as an ultimatum to Russia.
Peskov emphasized that Russia cannot engage in negotiations based on such ultimatums. He reiterated Russia's commitment to seeking a long-term peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Earlier, a German government representative mentioned potential sanctions if Moscow does not meet the ceasefire demand by the end of May 12. Both Ukrainian and Russian leaders have expressed willingness to negotiate, but under differing conditions.
