Ukraine and Russia Meet in Turkey for Ceasefire Talks Amidst New EU Sanctions - May 15, 2025

Edited by: gaya ❤️ one

Delegations from Ukraine and Russia are meeting in Istanbul on May 15, 2025, to negotiate a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict. Kyiv has expressed gratitude to Poland, France, and Germany for their support.

Prior to the talks, foreign ministers from the Weimar Triangle met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, who updated them on the battlefield situation and diplomatic efforts. President Zelenskyy is meeting with Turkey's President Erdogan in Ankara. Neither Presidents Putin nor Trump will attend the Istanbul talks.

The EU has adopted a new sanctions package against Russia, with further measures threatened if a 30-day ceasefire is not agreed upon. The 17th round of EU sanctions targets Russia's shadow fleet of oil tankers and companies accused of supplying goods to the Russian military.
