Iran Opposes Transferring Enriched Uranium Stockpile Amid Nuclear Deal Negotiations

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

During ongoing negotiations with the United States regarding the nuclear deal, Iran has resisted proposals to transfer its stockpile of enriched uranium to a third country. According to The Guardian, Iran views its enriched uranium reserves as a safeguard in case the U.S. decides to withdraw from the agreement again. The discussions, which took place in Oman between Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, and Steve Utkoff, special envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump, were described as positive and constructive. A second round of negotiations is scheduled for April 19 in Rome.
