The third round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on the nuclear program will take place in Oman on Saturday, April 26. Iranian media reports that delegations from both countries are expected to discuss the main provisions of the agreement.

The U.S. delegation is led by Special Representative of the U.S. President Steve Whitkoff, and the Iranian delegation is led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Experts are included in both delegations.

Hours before the talks in Oman, a powerful explosion occurred at Iran's largest trading port, Shahid-Rajai. Local television reported at least four people died and at least 516 were injured. The Iranian authorities have not yet named the cause of the explosion.

The second round of indirect negotiations, which took place on April 19 at the Omani Embassy in Rome, lasted four hours. According to Araghchi, the negotiations are progressing well. Ali Shamkhani, an aide to Ali Khamenei, noted that Iran is ready for a compromise agreement on the nuclear issue under certain conditions.

Shamkhani demanded the complete lifting of sanctions from Tehran, including the removal of restrictions on foreign investment and the cessation of threats from Israel and the United States. Whitkoff emphasized that an agreement can only be reached if Tehran completely ceases uranium enrichment work. Araghchi indicated that Tehran is not seeking to create nuclear weapons and expressed readiness to compromise on uranium enrichment.
