Iran Suspends IAEA Cooperation Following Strikes by US and Israel

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

On June 26, 2025, Iran's parliament voted to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This decision follows recent military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian nuclear facilities. The legislation requires future IAEA inspections to be authorized by Iran's Supreme National Security Council.

The strikes, which targeted facilities at Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz, prompted the vote. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned of potential retaliation if provoked. The IAEA has requested renewed access to Iranian facilities to assess the damage and monitor uranium stockpiles.

The Kremlin expressed concern over Iran's decision, viewing it as a direct consequence of the attacks. A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran is currently in place, with U.S. and Iranian officials expected to hold talks next week to address the ongoing tensions.
