Iran vows to continue uranium enrichment amid US 'red line'

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

Iran's foreign minister stated on Sunday that the country will continue its uranium enrichment program. This declaration comes regardless of whether a nuclear deal with the US is reached. The Trump administration has deemed any form of enrichment a "red line." Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi asserted that Iran would not deviate from its goal of enriching uranium. Tehran insists this enrichment is for nuclear energy plants, not weapons. US special envoy Steve Witkoff insisted that any enrichment represents a "red line" in nuclear talks. Araghchi emphasized Iran's rights as a Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty member. President Trump warned Iran to quickly accept his nuclear deal proposal. The International Atomic Energy Agency has warned about Iran's growing enriched uranium stockpile.
