X Corp, formerly known as Twitter, has filed a lawsuit against the Indian government, alleging the IT Ministry is expanding censorship powers unlawfully. The lawsuit, dated March 5 and reported on Thursday, claims the ministry is using a government-run website to issue content-blocking orders, bypassing legal safeguards. X Corp argues this creates an "impermissible parallel mechanism" leading to unrestrained censorship. The case was briefly heard in the High Court of Karnataka and will be heard again on March 27. This legal action escalates an ongoing dispute between X and the Indian government over online content regulation, coinciding with Musk's plans to launch Starlink and Tesla in India.
