The Israeli government and Hamas reached an agreement on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, for the exchange of the remains of four Israeli hostages for the release of Palestinian prisoners. The handover of the remains of Itzik Elgarat, 70; Ohad Yahalomi, 50; Shlomo Mansur, 85; and Tsahi Idan, 50, will occur without ceremonies. Hamas confirmed that the Brigades Ezedin al Qasam decided to hand over the bodies. In return, the Prison Service of Israel announced preparations to release Palestinian prisoners. The release was initially blocked by Netanyahu due to concerns over previous ceremonies organized by Hamas.
