TakeMe2Space plans to launch the MOI-1A satellite aboard the SpaceX Transporter-18 mission on 2 October 2026. The 14 kg spacecraft will allow customers to run artificial intelligence models directly in orbit to process Earth observation data.

The satellite is equipped with computing power of 117 trillion operations per second, 2 TB of storage and a nine-band multispectral imager. These characteristics will help reduce the volume of raw data transmitted to Earth.

“Satellites collect enormous arrays of information, but often it has to be delivered to Earth for processing. With MOI-1A, customers will be able to run their AI models directly in orbit and obtain the insights they need without downloading all the raw material,” noted TakeMe2Space founder and CEO Ronak Kumar Samantray.

The new spacecraft continues the work of the MOI-TD demonstration mission of 2024, which confirmed the feasibility of onboard AI inference. The company has already attracted 23 customer for orbital inference services.

Applications include agricultural monitoring, mining and supply chain analysis. How will this affect the speed of obtaining insights from space data?

The mission marks the transition to commercial provision of such services and the development of orbital computing infrastructure.
