Anthropic, the developer of the Claude model, filed an S-1 registration statement with the SEC on 26 October 2026 for an IPO on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT.
In the first half of 2026, the company's revenue reached 16,3 billion dollars — a growth of 1300% compared with 1,2 billion dollars a year earlier. Most of it came in the second quarter, when revenue amounted to 11,6 billion dollars.
In this quarter, Anthropic showed an operating profit for the first time — 974 million dollars. Over the half-year, the operating loss shrank to 693 million dollars.
The net loss over the six months amounted to 80,7 billion dollars, mainly due to the revaluation of convertible bonds and derivative instruments rather than operating expenses.
The company spends heavily on infrastructure: about 9 billion dollars went on computing and equipment alone over the half-year. At the same time, commitments for AI infrastructure spending exceed 800 billion dollars through 2045.
The prospectus describes the risks in detail: from the possible creation of biological weapons to scenarios in which the models escape human control and begin to exhibit "self-preserving" behavior.
The IPO could become one of the largest in history — by estimates, the offering could raise up to 100 billion dollars at a valuation of 1,5 to 2 trillion dollars. The listing is planned for November, before Thanksgiving.
Will the market be able to properly appreciate the combination of explosive growth and colossal costs at Anthropic?
Seven co-founders will retain control through a special share with 50,1% votes. Among the major investors are Amazon and Google.
