On August 18, 2026, we celebrate World Never Give Up Day. This is an international initiative dedicated to perseverance, resilience, and inner strength—qualities that help us keep moving forward even after setbacks.
The movement was founded by Alain Horoit, known as Mr. Never Give Up, in 2019. The idea emerged after the serious personal trials and setbacks he had to endure. Horoit decided to create a special day to support people who do not give up and continue to fight for the goals that matter to them.
In 2025, the initiative was presented to the National Day Calendar. The registrar approved the annual date of August 18, and the name was changed to World Never Give Up Dayto emphasize the international scale of the movement.
One of the main events of the day is the Walk of Perseverance. This is a symbolic global campaign that anyone can join. Participants create their own walks or find ones already organized via an interactive map on the website walk.nevergiveupday.com
Everyone has their own reasons. Some walk in support of their own recovery, others for a loved one or in memory of someone. For others, the walk becomes a symbol of a dream, a promise to themselves, or a goal they are not yet ready to abandon.
The main idea of this day is simple: sometimes it is perseverance, not talent or luck, that determines how far a person can go.
At the same time, "never giving up" does not necessarily mean holding onto every goal at any cost. Sometimes, changing direction or letting go of something that drains your energy or no longer makes sense is also a sign of inner maturity. It is important to distinguish a difficult phase from a path that has truly ceased to be yours.
HAPPY NEVER GIVE UP DAY. ❤️This August 18, walk for what matters most to you. 🌍🚶On #NeverGiveUpDay, people, communities & organizations worldwide unite for the world’s largest Walk of Perseverance. Explore inspiring walks worldwide: 👉 walk.nevergiveupday.com
What step forward will you take today—even if it is the smallest one?

You can mark World Never Give Up Day without grand gestures. For example, return to a long-postponed task, write down a few important goals, support someone who is currently going through a tough time, take part in the Walk of Perseverance, or share your own story on social media with the hashtag #WorldNeverGiveUpDay.

In 2026, according to the organizers, the movement continues to unite participants from different countries and cultures around one idea: even when giving up seems like the easiest solution, sometimes it is enough to take just one small step forward.
