When they say “love overcomes all obstacles”, usually it's not about a real flood. 😄
On 1 September in the city of Hagonoy in the Philippines, Lian Liza Galang was to marry Gilbert Chico. There was only one small problem: the church was flooded, and the water inside reached almost to the waist.
The parish offered the newlyweds to postpone the wedding. The newlyweds thought about it and decided: a wedding is a wedding.
The bride in a white dress, with a bouquet and veil, stepped right into the murky water and made her way along the flooded aisle to the groom. The train of the dress had to be shortened, the electricity went out, portable speakers were used instead of the church sound system, and the guests stood in the water.
But the main thing happened: the couple reached the altar and said to each other “yes”.
The video quickly spread across world media, turning this wedding into one of the most unusual ceremonies of the year.
And, perhaps, for the first time the expression “sail towards family life” turned out to be not a beautiful metaphor, but an accurate description of what was happening. 😄
