In July 2025, Panasonic Holdings Corporation is advancing perovskite photovoltaic glass technology. The goal is to revolutionize solar energy integration into buildings.
Panasonic achieved an 18.1% energy conversion efficiency in an 804 cm² perovskite solar module. This was achieved using inkjet coating and laser processing. This technology enhances size, transparency, and design flexibility.
At the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, Panasonic will showcase a prototype. The prototype, located at the Panasonic Group Pavilion "Nomo no Kuni," integrates glass-type perovskite solar cells (have a structural similarity to the perovskite mineral discovered in Russia in 1839). This demonstrates the potential for renewable energy in urban settings.
Panasonic is collaborating with Mitsui Fudosan Residential Co., Ltd. to test the technology in a new building. This collaboration aims to assess the performance of glass with gradational and transparent designs. Panasonic plans to commercialize perovskite panels within five years, supporting carbon-neutral goals.
