Edited by: an_lymons vilart

Germany, July 3, 2025 - E.ON, in collaboration with MM Neuss, has inaugurated a fully automated combined heat and power (CHP) plant at the MM Neuss cartonboard production site. This facility, powered by the E.ON IQ Energy® solution, marks a significant advancement in sustainable energy solutions for industrial applications.

The CHP plant features a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) with an electrical output of 22 MW and a thermal output of 59 MW. It is designed to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 22,000 tons annually compared to traditional methods, boasting a fuel utilization rate of up to 91 percent.

The plant's design incorporates hydrogen compatibility, allowing for operation with up to 10 percent hydrogen fuel mix initially, with a future conversion path to 100 percent hydrogen. The E.ON IQ Energy® system enables real-time integration of the power plant with production processes and the grid, optimizing operations and allowing for unattended operation for up to 72 hours.
