Indonesia is aggressively pursuing electric vehicle (EV) production, targeting 2.5 million units annually by 2030. As of March 2025, seven EV manufacturers have committed investments totaling Rp15.4 trillion. These investments are projected to yield a production capacity of 281,000 electric cars per year. The New Energy Vehicle Summit 2025 in Jakarta highlighted the country's focus on low-emission mobility. The summit emphasized the importance of diversifying energy sources, including biofuels and hydrogen, alongside battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The government plans to offer greater incentives for manufacturers increasing the use of domestic components (TKDN).
