Bangladesh has granted Starlink a 10-year license to operate, making it the second South Asian country to approve the service after Sri Lanka. The licenses allow Starlink to import equipment and provide high-speed internet across the nation. This move aims to boost internet access, especially in underserved rural areas. Starlink will now be able to deploy its satellite-based internet services throughout Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) officially handed over the licenses to Starlink Services Bangladesh Limited. The decision was finalized after approval from transitional government head Muhammad Yunus. Authorities anticipate that Starlink's entry will increase competition in the broadband and mobile internet sectors. It is expected to improve reliable, high-speed internet access for both urban and rural communities. Starlink is currently preparing a tariff plan for BTRC review, with a technical launch planned for May.
