Amazon is gearing up to challenge SpaceX's Starlink in the global satellite internet market with its Project Kuiper. The first launch, scheduled for April 9, 2025, will deploy 27 satellites aboard an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral. The project aims to position over 3,200 satellites in orbit, providing fast and reliable internet access worldwide. Kuiper's satellites feature advanced technologies like electronically scanned antennas and optical inter-satellite links, initially placed at 450 km altitude. Amazon plans to use Vulcan Centaur rockets for 38 subsequent launches, diversifying operations to rapidly achieve full network capacity. The goal is to reduce the global digital divide, offering satellite internet in remote areas and competing with Starlink's dominance.
