The Verge reports a leak of the Fitbit Edge — Google's new fitness tracker

On October 4, 2026, The Verge published an article about a leak of images and specifications of Google's new fitness tracker called the Fitbit Edge. The device is positioned as the successor to the Charge line and occupies an intermediate position between the minimalist Fitbit Air and full-fledged Pixel Watch smartwatches.

In the published renders, the Edge looks like a compact band with a convex oval color screen that extends closer to the edges of the body than on previous Charge models. The screen supports widgets and complications: displaying the time, date, heart rate, step count, and starting a workout. The color range includes Obsidian black, Olive green, and Canyon orange — in the style of current Pixel devices. On the sides are elongated buttons, and on the back are a removable strap mechanism and a sensor module similar to the Air's.

According to leaks from retail listings, the Edge is equipped with built-in GPS and an altimeter, supports notifications, automatic activity recognition, and a limited set of apps: Google Maps, media controls, and YouTube Music, as well as Find My Phone. Connectivity is via Bluetooth LE and GNSS; Wi-Fi is absent. Compatibility is stated with Android and iOS. Battery life is estimated at up to seven days.

The Fitbit Edge is set to replace the Charge 6, the latest version of which came out in 2023 and currently costs around 160 dollars. According to preliminary estimates from Android Headlines and other sources, the price of the new product may be 149–199 dollars, which places it between the Air at 100 dollars and the Pixel Watch 5 at 400 dollars. There is no official confirmation of the name, exact specifications, price, or release date from Google yet.

Compared with the Air, the new product adds a screen with widgets, GPS, and notifications, but remains more compact than full-fledged smartwatches. Compared with the Pixel Watch 5, it is inferior in screen size and app selection, but promises significantly greater battery life. No direct comparisons with competitors like Garmin or Amazfit are provided in the leaks.

So far only images and a partial comparison table are available; the exact body dimensions, battery capacity, and presence of ECG remain unknown. Buyers should wait for the official announcement to evaluate the real capabilities and price of the Fitbit Edge.
