Sony has launched pre-orders in the U.S. for the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, a compact wearable thermal device designed to help users survive the heat without the noise, drafts, or bulk of a fan-equipped backpack. Shipping is set to begin in late July, with the new gadget priced at $259.99.
Functioning as a localized personal cooling system, the device utilizes Peltier elements to lower skin temperature around the neck and upper spine. Unlike standard portable fans that simply circulate air, the Reon Pocket Pro Plus draws heat away discreetly and can be hidden entirely beneath a shirt collar.
Sony has significantly upgraded the device compared to the previous generation, claiming a 20% increase in cooling efficiency. The battery life has also been extended, lasting up to 10 hours on standard settings and up to 15 hours in smart mode, which automatically adjusts based on integrated temperature and humidity sensors.
