Huawei is developing a new foldable smartphone in the Nova line with a substantially changed design. According to the insider SmartPikachu, the device will get a wider construction, close to the Pura X Max model.
Unlike last year's Nova Flip S with an aspect ratio of 20:9, the new model will apparently switch to proportions of 16:9 or 16:10. This will make the gadget more compact when folded and more convenient for watching video and multitasking when unfolded.
The change in form factor recalls the "passport" style of the Pura X Max: when opened, the screen becomes wider rather than taller. This geometry has already proven convenient for horizontal content and working with multiple windows.
The device's other specifications have not yet been disclosed. The manufacturer has confirmed neither the chipset, nor the battery capacity, nor the cameras, nor the price. The presentation is expected no earlier than the end of 2026 or the beginning of 2027.
Previous Nova foldable models belonged to a more affordable segment compared with the flagship Mate and Pura. The new version will retain this position, offering a wide format at a lower price than premium analogues.
There is no confirmed data yet on performance or battery life, but the very fact of the switch to a wide layout already sets the novelty apart among vertical flip phones. Competitors will have to respond to this format if it proves to be in demand.
Final conclusions about whether it is worth buying can be drawn only after the official announcement and tests.
