Japan is actively developing quantum technologies. RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Fujitsu have jointly developed a 256-qubit superconducting quantum computer.
The Japanese machine uses technologies developed entirely in Japan. It efficiently scales the number of qubits without redesigning the architecture.
Fujitsu claims its dilution cooling system is more efficient than others. The 256-qubit machine uses the same cooling unit as RIKEN's 64-qubit computer. A 1,000-qubit computer is planned for 2026.
