Toyota Accelerates EV Strategy: 15 New Models by 2027, Eyes 1 Million Sales

Edited by: Katya Palm Beach

Toyota is significantly expanding its electric vehicle (EV) lineup, planning to introduce 15 new EV models by 2027. This expansion aims to achieve approximately 1 million EV sales annually. Currently, Toyota produces five EV models in Japan and China, and is looking to broaden its production to the U.S., Thailand, and Argentina. This strategic move aims to mitigate risks associated with tariffs and currency fluctuations, while also shortening delivery times. The company anticipates producing around 800,000 EVs by 2026. By 2026, Toyota plans to offer seven fully electric models in Europe under the Toyota and Lexus brands, including updated versions of the bZ4X, Urban Cruiser, and C-HR+. Over the next year, three Lexus-branded EVs will be introduced in Europe, starting with the new RZ SUV. This initiative demonstrates Toyota's commitment to strengthening its position in the EV market and contributing to a sustainable future.
