BYD to Launch Electric Vehicle Factory in Indonesia Ahead of Schedule

BYD, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has committed to establishing a factory in Subang, Indonesia, with operations expected to begin next year. This follows a recent investment commitment of $7.46 billion secured during a visit to China.

The factory's construction timeline has been accelerated, with completion now targeted for Q4 2025, rather than the previously planned 2026. This initiative aligns with Indonesia's goals to enhance its electric vehicle ecosystem.

BYD plans to expand its production capacity in Indonesia to meet both domestic and export demands, focusing on electric vehicle batteries and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology.

Government support is assured, including infrastructure development to connect industrial areas with ports. This expansion is expected to create over 18,000 new jobs.
