Beijing is set to hold a half marathon for humanoid robots in April 2025, showcasing rapidly advancing robotic technologies. The event, organized by the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area Administrative Committee, invites robot clubs from around the world.

Among the participants will be 'Tiangong,' a humanoid robot capable of running at an average speed of 10 kilometers per hour. Last November, this life-sized robot, developed by the China Innovation Center for Embedded Artificial Intelligence Robotics, successfully ran alongside human participants in the Yizhuang Half Marathon in Beijing.

Chinese humanoid robots are demonstrating impressive athletic capabilities. In October 2024, a robot from Beijing-based RobotEra climbed the Great Wall, showcasing its stability and strength across various terrains. Recently, a Chinese team introduced a robotic dog that completed 100 meters in under ten seconds.

Additionally, Beijing will host a sports event in August 2025 focused on humanoid robots, featuring competitions in athletics, soccer, and various other applications.
