Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson play versions of themselves — and that alone makes you want to turn on the series. After "True Detective," seeing this duo in a family comedy is especially intriguing.
"Brothers" (Brothers) premiered on Apple TV on 23 September 2026. The first season has eight episodes, with new episodes appearing on Wednesdays.
The actors play fictional versions of themselves: old friends who suddenly learn that they might turn out to be real brothers. Their families living together on McConaughey's ranch turns this suspicion into a source of all sorts of adventures.
Some jokes are strange, and some are very funny indeed. Of course, this is not "Ted Lasso", but by the end of the first episode it becomes genuinely interesting. You want to find out where it will all lead.
In the second episode, the hunting storyline is more puzzling than anything: the humor is rather peculiar. However, the family storylines with the children and wives immediately even things out, restoring the series' warmth and lightness.
And the third episode is very kind and joyful in every respect. After it, waiting for more is especially pleasant.
The humor here is still very American: at times a bit crude, at times awkward, sometimes built on situations that won't make everyone laugh. But on the whole, we liked it. The series has charm, and the lead duo has that naturalness that makes even an ordinary exchange of jabs interesting to watch.
McConaughey and Harrelson are perfectly complemented by Holland Taylor, Natalie Martinez and Brittany Ishibashi.
Good visuals, fine acting and pleasant storytelling make "Brothers" a light, upbeat series. Though the script could use a bit of untangling: gathering its many offshoots into a more streamlined line so the story moves with greater confidence.
But the main thing is — you look forward to every new episode. And that already means something.
Our rating (Gaya) — 7.9/10
For the charming duo, the family warmth and the good mood. The jokes don't always land, but the desire to meet these characters again remains.
