A24 has secured the distribution rights to the film 'Club Kid' for $17 million at the Cannes Film Festival. This figure marks one of the highest prices paid for an independent project at this year's festival so far.
The film is a dramedy that critics are already describing as a blend of the signature A24 aesthetic and the movie 'Big Daddy.' The story centers on a washed-up, immature underground promoter whose usual nightlife-centric world is turned upside down when he suddenly learns of his 10-year-old son's existence and is forced to embrace parenthood.
The narrative goes beyond the club scene to explore themes of maturity, responsibility, and the acceptance of fatherhood against the backdrop of night culture. Cara Delevingne and Diego Calva also star in the movie.
A24, the powerhouse behind 'Everything Everywhere All at Once,' continues to aggressively snap up high-profile titles to bolster its standing in the premium market segment.
