The Blue Ghost Mission 1 lander, launched by Firefly Aerospace, concluded its two-week lunar mission on March 2025, transmitting sunset images to Earth as a final farewell. The lander, which successfully landed on the moon in early March, delivered ten NASA science and delivery payloads to the Mare Crisium basin. During its lunar day, the lander captured images, including a total solar eclipse and sunset photos. Firefly Aerospace shared the sunset images on social media, marking the mission's achievements. The lander transmitted 119 gigabytes of data to Earth and conducted various scientific demonstrations, including deploying a subsurface thermal probe and using an X-ray imager. NASA acknowledged the mission's complexity and anticipates scientific findings from the data collected. This mission set a record for the longest commercial lunar mission.
