Conexeu Sciences Sees the Formation of a New Category in Medical Aesthetics

A Conexeu Sciences press release dated 18 August 2026 announces the birth of a new category in medical aesthetics, where biological tissue restoration takes center stage, rather than simple volume replacement.

The preclinical-stage company is advancing its CXU™ platform based on extracellular matrix (ECM). According to the company, research is increasingly turning to the structural and biochemical role of the ECM—the scaffold that holds tissues together and directs repair processes.

In a 2026 review in JAAD Reviews, the authors examine ECM-based approaches in dermatology and aesthetic medicine, noting their role in tissue remodeling. A similar 2025 review in the Journal of Clinical Medicine highlights ECM scaffolds among other regenerative technologies, such as exosomes and PRP.

Conexeu emphasizes that its CXU™ is a multi-component collagen-ECM scaffold, not a single-component material. According to President and CEO Miles Harrison, the scientific foundation for the platform was laid more than twelve years ago, long before regeneration became a distinct field in aesthetics.

Independent analysts value the bioregenerative aesthetics market at approximately 1,6 billion dollars in 2025, with an expected annual growth of more than 11% through 2034. The broader regenerative aesthetics segment is valued at 15,6 billion dollars.

The company has completed a 12-month preclinical phase of the P.R.O.O.F. study in facial and subcutaneous tissue models. According to Conexeu, the study objectives were met, though detailed results are being prepared for publication in scientific journals.

The press release notes the growing demand for non-surgical procedures: in 2024, more than 20,5 million such interventions were performed worldwide. Conexeu plans to submit a 510(k) application to the FDA in early 2027 for an initial indication.

According to the developers, the ECM could become a key area for future research in the restoration of facial and body soft tissues, including changes following significant weight loss.
