Tokara Islands Experience Continued Seismic Activity

The Tokara Islands, south of Kyushu, Japan, continue to experience minor seismic activity. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reports ongoing tremors in the region. Residents are advised to stay informed and prepared.

At around 7:51pm, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.1 occurred near the Tokara Islands at a depth of 10km. The maximum intensity was 1. There is no threat of a tsunami.

The islands, known for volcanic activity, saw a magnitude 5.1 earthquake in May 2023. No major damage or tsunami risks have been reported in the current series of events. Local authorities continue to monitor the situation.
