A wildfire in Cochise County, Arizona, has consumed 3,000 acres as of Tuesday morning. The Stronghold Fire, which began near Sunsites-Pearce on Monday, remains at zero containment.
Authorities have ordered evacuations for approximately 25 homes west of Cochise Stronghold Road. Around 100 additional homes are on standby for potential evacuation east of Cochise Stronghold Road.
The fire's rapid spread is attributed to windy conditions and dry vegetation. Fire activity is expected to increase throughout the day as temperatures rise.
Approximately 275 personnel are battling the blaze, including hand crews, hotshot crews, and air tankers. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
