In Saudi Arabia, students at King Khalid University have presented projects that could change the way we think about earning from technology and conserving resources. An innovation and entrepreneurship competition brought to light works in which data encryption sits side by side with water purification and solar energy.
First place in the innovation category went to a data encryption algorithm project. Student Fawaz al-Shahri and his team showed how to protect digital assets in a world where cryptocurrencies and data are becoming a new form of capital. This approach echoes an old Arab proverb: "He who holds the key holds the treasure."
Second and third places in the same category went to environmentally friendly vehicle projects: a car powered by solar energy and water, as well as by compressed air. These developments are directly tied to future revenues — reducing dependence on oil and creating new markets for clean technologies.
In the graduation research category, the winner was a project using solar energy and the Internet of Things for irrigation. Student Mohammed al-Ahmari demonstrated how smart systems can save water and increase crop yields. Another project — water purification using moringa seeds — offers a cheap and accessible way to address the problem of resource scarcity.
The director of the Center for Talent and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Mohammed Hamash al-Maghribi, emphasized that the competition helps turn student ideas into real businesses. Of the 90 applications, 49 concerned innovation specifically, and the best of them will receive support to enter the market.
These projects show how the youth of Saudi Arabia are connecting cryptography with ecology, creating value not only for themselves but also for the national economy. Investment in such ideas today can turn into new jobs and exportable technologies tomorrow.

In the end, the success of these students is a reminder: money flows to where data protection and care for nature meet.
