Brazil's Finance Minister Fernando Haddad announced a significant tax reform aimed at simplifying the taxation process and boosting the country's economic productivity. The new system, expected to launch on January 1st of next year, will be fully digital, eliminating paperwork and providing real-time online tracking. This initiative intends to level the playing field for businesses, shifting competition from tax planning to productivity. The reform includes a comprehensive IT upgrade, positioning Brazil as a leader in digital taxation. It will provide the government and companies with enhanced planning capabilities through online access to real-time data, projections, and growth estimates. The minister also highlighted the end of fiscal warfare in the country, anticipating a significant improvement in overall quality. Haddad also mentioned plans to promote the National Data Center Plan in California, seeking to reduce the country's reliance on foreign IT services. Despite global economic uncertainties, Brazil aims to maintain open trade channels with major global players while strengthening multilateralism.
