Tate McRae Achieves First No. 1 Album with "So Close to What," Marking Biggest Debut for a Female Artist in Months

Tate McRae has secured her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with "So Close to What," debuting with 177,000 equivalent album units. This marks the largest debut week for a studio album by a female artist in five months, since Sabrina Carpenter's "Short n' Sweet." "So Close to What" also achieved 137 million streams and 71,000 album sales in its first week, both career bests for McRae.

The album's success was driven by tracks like "Sports Car," "Revolving Door," and "It's OK I'm OK." McRae's previous hit single "Greedy" has garnered 1.6 billion streams on Spotify. McRae is set to embark on a world tour, starting in Mexico City, to promote the new album.

Elsewhere on the Billboard 200, Drake and PartyNextDoor's "$ome $exy $ongs" fell to No. 2, while Kendrick Lamar's "GNX" held steady at No. 3. SZA's "SOS" remained at No. 4, and Sabrina Carpenter's "Short n' Sweet" slipped to No. 5.
