Tate McRae's third studio album, "So Close To What," has made a stellar debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking her first chart-topping album. The album launched with 177,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during the week ending February 27, according to Luminate. This achievement represents the largest debut week for a studio album by a female artist in five months, since Sabrina Carpenter's "Short n' Sweet" debuted with 362,000 units in September 2024. "So Close To What" generated significant streaming activity, led by tracks like "Sports Car," "Revolving Door," and "It's OK I'm OK." The album's success was also bolstered by its availability across multiple formats, including digital downloads, CDs, cassettes, and vinyl, each with unique track configurations. McRae supported the album's release with appearances on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and interviews with various media outlets, and she is set to embark on the "Miss Possessive Tour," spanning over 80 dates across 20 countries.
