Metaplanet Adds $12.6 Million in Bitcoin, Totaling 3350 BTC

Tokyo-based Metaplanet announced on Monday its continued Bitcoin accumulation strategy with the purchase of an additional 150 BTC at approximately $83,801 each, totaling $12.6 million. This increases their holdings to 3350 BTC, acquired for about $278.8 million, now valued at roughly $291.3 million. The firm's move follows the appointment of Eric Trump to its Strategic Board of Advisors on Friday, citing his expertise and passion for Bitcoin. Metaplanet aims to hold 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026. Currently, Metaplanet ranks as the 10th largest public corporate Bitcoin holder globally and the largest in Asia. Following the announcement, Metaplanet's stock climbed 4.8% in Japan, with a year-to-date increase of 38.7%. Bitcoin is currently trading at $86,988, up 3.4% over the past 24 hours.
