AI Education Surges: China Integrates AI into Schools, SRM AP Partners with Carnegie Mellon

Edited by: Olga N

China is intensifying its focus on artificial intelligence (AI) education by introducing AI courses in primary and secondary schools, starting in Beijing on September 1. These courses will be either standalone or integrated into existing subjects, aligning with national curriculum standards. This initiative includes developing AI teaching guidelines and diverse learning materials. The effort coincides with China's competition with the U.S. in AI advancement, highlighted by DeepSeek's AI model. SRM AP, Amaravati, has announced a five-year collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science (CMU SCS) to advance AI research and education. This partnership will facilitate research opportunities for SRM AP faculty and students at CMU SCS, including access to AI labs and participation in curriculum development. SRM AP will also establish advanced AI labs and offer research internships at CMU for its students.
