BMW has commenced production of the extended wheelbase X3 model in China, increasing its wheelbase by 9 cm. This model will be available for sale in the first quarter of the year.
The joint venture with Brilliance Auto operates two major production plants in Shenyang, making it the largest production base for BMW globally.
The new X3 measures 4,865 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,664 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,975 mm. This model is 90 mm longer and 30 mm wider than its global counterpart, matching the wheelbase of the standard BMW X5.
Design elements include a large grille, flat door handles, and a distinctive rear light design. The interior features a 14.9-inch curved display.
Powering the Chinese X3 is a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing 211 kW (283 hp), paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
